Explaining about whether the story of Antigone and Antigone self views and how others views on her are perceived. Some see her as a hero or an antihero. Being an Antihero means a main character in a story,movie , or play who doesn’t have heroic attributes in the story plot. While being a hero means a character is adored or thought highly of for there courage ,courage’s achievements , or noble traits.
Other characters , in the story view Antigone as a hero the great king Creon believes that Antigone is a traitor because of her actions against him and the “kingdome.” The actions that she took after he forbid it, was that no man or woman in the country was allowed to give her brother a proper burial because of his beliefs he was fighting his brother in battle , but she went against Creon and gave her brother the burial anyways.
Antigone felt that it was her duty to bury her brother not thinking twice about what the consequences could be because no matter what he did to go against the king or who forbid it that was still Antigone’s blood brother. The folks people felt that she was a heroine because of her actions her standing up and doing what she thought was right on her beliefs. The actions she took what she did by burying her brother the king sentenced her to death even though she is his niece and to be daughter in law . Antigone is king Creon’s sons wife to be .King creon belives that rules should applied to everyone even if they are blood relatives.
King creon believes that she is not a heroine but just a hardheaded person because she refused to follow the the rules set in place and he believes that Antigone needed to have consequence and needed to be punished. King Creon punishes Antigone by declaring she will be locked in a dark tomb and will starve to death. As Creon may see her as a traitor against county for her actions against Creon and disobeying his rules but others see her as heroine and savior doing right by her blood brother .
In my own thinking i do Believe and see antigone as a heroine to the country and story because she did what she felt was right and knew was right and she went through with it knowing there would be consequences although family attempted to stop her many of times she stood Strong and did right by her brother because she knew he deserved a proper burial and she did right by him and no man nor woman in the world could stop her from giving her brother that. Not even the great King Creon saying he had forbidden the man from being buried that still couldn’t stop the her from brining justice to and for her brother.
