Group Discussions/ Training
Involving everyone is a group discussion allows for people to air their concerns and also be a part of the resolution, giving pros and cons to certain ideas. This all. Therefore, each member of staff can be involved in researching a question, or if they have attended training, they can cascade the information to each other. However, it would be fair if each member of the group equally contributed towards the discussion and this will enable the discussion to be productive and successful.
Appraisals
Managers assess role performances using this formal method. To ensure positive outcomes for the organisation and those being supported with the process of appraisals and supervisions, it is critical there is mutual agreement of goals and identification of training needs. The impact on the organisation is substantial as appraisals are part of organisational management strategies to ensure the fulfilment of short and long-term goals and enables staff to adapt to the changing needs of the customers. This suggests that performance appraisals, competence criteria and training need to be congruent with the organisational aims and objectives.
Supervisions
Supervision is an ongoing formal process that is carried out by a manager within the company who evaluates employee role performance against performance criteria and generally oversees, supports and advises the supervisee. This management strategy aims to facilitate reflective learning, which enables the supervisee to continuously attain knowledge, skills and understanding of their job role and why they are doing particular tasks. This is fostered with the use of constructive criticism, which also helps the supervisee to overcome anticipated issues.
Performance Reviews
Performance reviews allow for management to effectively manage a person who appears to not be working to the person specification or the job description. This allows the manager to set goals and timescales and allows them to review every month to see if these goals are being met, if they are not this is the start of the process in which the member of staff is potentially taken to disciplinary.
