Managing Individual Behavior,
1. A psychological contract is the overall set of expectations held by an individual with respect to what he or she will contribute to the organization and what the organization will provide in return. It is important because it is a standard set between an employee and the business. An example is seen when an employee agrees to show effort and use his ability, and then the management rewards him with pay and benefits.
2. Agreeableness deals with a person?s ability to get along with others. Conscientiousness refers to the number of goals on which a person focuses. Negative emotionality is the third trait and it can show a person with less to be poised, calm, and secure. A more negative person will be insecure, reactive, and have extreme mood swings. Extraversion refers to a person?s comfort level with relationships. And finally, the last trait is openness. It is a person?s rigidity of beliefs and range of interests.
3. Excessive pressure, unreasonable demands on our time, and bad news can all cause stress. These examples have titles that are known as physical, role, and interpersonal demands.
