Fresh Start
Its a very warm day, the year is 2014, and the wind is blowing lightly
all around us. The smell of sunflowers is tickling my nose as I sit here on the
old, wooden, porch bench at my parents house in Lake of the Pines
California, drinking my chocolate milk and listening to Camden?s plan of
attack.
Camden has been my best friend since the day we met at Pleasant
Ridge elementary school in Grassvalley California. It was a hot end of
summer day as I entered room 124, Mrs. Bothuns fourth grade class and
noticed a girl that looked a lot like me. Her name was Camden Marie
Paladini, she had short dark hair and green eyes. She was very short like me
and we even had the same black hightop converse shoes. I also had short hair
and green eyes but my hair was blonde. We learned later that our birthdays
are only one day apart. We were both very tomboyish and spent all of our
recesses playing kickball or tag with the boys.
There were many times when we would be apart for a while. I was in
and out of shooting commercials in LA. and we traveled a lot. But
