Mrs. Linde and Krogstad: An Unlikely Couple
Mrs. Linde and Krogstad is not, in my eyes, an unlikely couple. At first you would get the notion that they are two different people that do not belong together. After you hear about their history and their present situations you will understand my reasoning.
Krogstad and Mrs. Linde were once a couple. Mrs. Linde ended up leaving him, not because she didn?t love him but because he couldn?t provide for her at the time and she had her sick mother and two young brothers to take care of. Krogstad always thought Mrs. Linde had just stopped loving him and left him for another man, he never knew the real reason for her departure until their conversation. You can tell by the conversation between them near the end of the play that Mrs. Linde really did care for Krogstad and she had always thought about him in the back of her mind. Her whole reasoning for leaving was money and stability. In the 1800?s that is what most marriages were about, it was not about whether or not you were in love it was whether or not you found someone who could
