Benjamin Franklin
I read a book called The Life of Ben Franklin. According to the book, Benjamin Franklin was one of the greatest American minds of all time. He was born on January 17, 1706, and raised in a very humble family. His dad was a tradesman, and his mom was a homemaker. Their house, and shop, was situated on Milk Street. Right opposite their house, was a church (the Old South Church), which his parents were members of. His dad, Josiah, insisted that all of his kids learned a trade. He had dreams of Ben becoming a minister, which would mean that he would have to enter grammar school at the age of eight. Benjamin was good at reading and writing, however he wasn?t good at arithmetic. This forced his father to remove him from school, thus ruining his chances of becoming a member of the clergy. Josiah decided to apprentice Benjamin in the printing business, which used his skills in reading and writing.
In 1723, Benjamin went to Philadelphia which, at that time, was a small town with less than 10,000 people. In 50 years though, Philadelphia grew to
