There is an obvious difference between love and the utterly obsession with someone. The true definition of love is an intense feeling of deep affection; which was somewhat portrayed in the novel. Being in love means wanting that special someone to do well in life, being in love means putting them first in every choice or decision you do in life. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald displays two of the most important characters in the book, Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan. It’s said that the two were in love since young adults, but in all honesty this wasn’t love but more of an obsession. The author exhibits a great variety of themes including rags to riches, love, obsession, and more through the most important character in the book, Jay Gatsby. Jay confuses himself by showing that he loves Daisy but instead he’s actually obsessed with her.
