Everyone feels differently about school

Everyone feels differently about school. Some think it stresses them out while others look at it as their happy place. School Is Bad for Children by John Holt and The Sanctuary of School by Lynda Barry are two perfect examples of how the authors view schools different. School Is Bad for Children talks about how Holt vies school as not the best place. He views schools as taking away our independence, our own way of thinking. He believes teachers should let students come to them and reach out instead of teachers picking up student’s slack. On the other hand, Lynda Barry believes we should keep school structure that it provides. Barry vies school as a safe haven for children. However, Holt and Barry agree that school is a place where kids can meet and participate in extracurricular activities. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast Holt and Barry’s reading in structure.
