Egypt
Imperialism a policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Throughout history there’s lots of examples of imperialism. One such example is Egypt and Great Britain.
The British got of hold of the canal because the Egyptians had tremendous of debt so the British brought the canal. In 1882, the British invaded and conquered Egypt to put down a revolt of Egyptian army officers. The British, were worried about the Suez Canal falling into the hands of an unfriendly power.
Some cause from the british taking over Egypt were, The British first arrived they brought technological advancements in weaponry, agriculture and etc. Britain turned Egypt into a constant supplier of cotton. Natives of Egypts were forced to switch from planting food to planting cotton. This caused famines to erupt all over Egypt. A great number of the natives were subsistence farmers, meaning they farmed for survival. The switch from food to cotton caused hunger and death. The famines were not the only problems Egypt faced. Many people wanted to leave Egypt and be free from the British rule, but then there wouldn’t be enough people left to maintain the Suez Canal. So the British imposed heavy taxes on the public to force them to stay in Europe. They had to maintain the land to make money so that they could keep up with the heavy taxation. The education system in Egypt did not suffer greatly.
