One of the main literacy problem at home is children prefer to watch more television compared to reading books. This happens because less emphasis is given by the child parents on how much their child is reading. This is an issue because when the child is not given enough exposure to reading, the child will not know the importance of literacy and will have a hard time adapting in school later on. Reading should be given emphasis to children from an early age because the best time for children to learn and absorb knowledge is when they are young.

One main literacy issue in school is less experienced teachers are the assigned to teach these children. If a teacher itself is not experienced, how would the teacher teach its students. Common mistakes such as not having good language proficiency, making grammar mistakes while teaching, and giving out the wrong explanation to the students would make the students feel less confident towards the person who is educating them.
