Human suffering is an inescapable issue that still dwells around till this very day. The issue of human suffering is being experienced all around the world. One place in particular is Darfur, Sudan, which, several years ago, had a civil war that left the country of Sudan in a state of decay and its people in torment, all the while, the rest of the world is completely oblivious of the fact that there is a genocide-like civil war, almost as if the world was trying to ignore it. People all around the world are not paying any heed to this particular issue which results in the ignorance and unwillingness to help the innocent Sudanese people whom have been brought to this war against their own will.
The lack of attention this issue of human suffering is getting is one of the many reasons why this conflict is still on the rise. According to the World Without Genocide Organization, they state that the issues are on the rise and attention is dropping due to the fact that one conflict ended, but the one following will be disregarded. It is stated that “as the civil war between the North and the South reached its peak in the 1990’s, the government ignored reports of rising violence in Darfur” (World Without Genocide). This shows how after the civil war reaches its climax point, later issues of violence started to occur. Another organization, in the name of United to End Genocide, states that the civil war which led to a genocide-like death rate had further increased the death rate by government not lending any aid to the people. In their article, “Who’s at Risk, Sudan’s Background,” it is stated that “indiscriminate aerial bombardments and ground attacks are preventing farmers from planting crops in the southern border regions of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, and denial of international humanitarian aid has set up a crisis that could near famine conditions” (EndGenocide.org). This asserts that the fact that foreign nations are refusing the fact of accepting there is a genocide in Sudan, thus not providing any aid for the people. Simply, nations, or even people, mostly ignore such conflicts because they’ve never experienced such atrocity or would not want to get involved for their nation might be targeted if they do so, hence the genocide in Darfur which led many people to suffer, is overlooked.
People in Darfur experienced this genocide first hand which lead to the suffering of many people and the deaths of even more.
