In my Class we have not got a language barrier problem but last term in my old class I did have a language barrier problem. We had a girl and a boy in our class one was polish and the other was a Muslim. The polish boy spoke with broken English and it was very difficult to understand his words sometimes so I used lower my self to his level and ask him to say what he said again this is so I could try and understand him better sometimes I did understand what he was saying. If I couldn’t understand him then I would ask the teacher and staff TA to help me out. I would do all this without making him feel different to the other children so I would do the same thing I do to him with other children by pretending I didn’t understand what they were saying but not all the time as I could understand him sometimes this is so he didn’t feel like he was the only one with the problem of communication its pretty much the same for the Muslim girl the only difference was she could speak fluent English but she spoke with a very silent voice and it was very difficult to hear what she was saying so I always asked her to say what she said in my ear so I could hear her better. I feel that if we want to make a positive image on language barriers we have to treat anyone with a language barrier the same as the other children as best we can.
