People around the world must know that children are assets of the nation because the future of the country is in their hands, the burden of the state is on their shoulder, and the bright future is on their feet. However, why there are still some people who have not realized the importance of children for country. Why there are some people who abusing child? Child abuse has been known as one of the major destructions of lives in the society specially to the children. But what really a child abuse is? What are the causes and effects of it? What are the signs and symptoms of child abuse?
Child abuse is defined as doing something or failing to do something that results harm to a child or puts a child at risk. Child abuse is a significantly contemporary community problem. Although children have been maltreated throughout history, our community has been silent in defense of abuse children. Child abuse is not phenomenon of the 20th century nor is it unique to our society to our society and culture alone. The future of any nation depends on its children and their capabilities. For the reason, they must have been given a full chance. Nowadays, we always hear about child abuse every year. There are many forms of abuse and many people do not realize them. This included physical, emotional, neglect and sexual abuse. First, is Physical abuse .Physical abuse is related to children punishment when they are doing something wrong. This involved punching, kicking, beating, or other acts of violence which can injure the children. Some of the signs of this are broken bones, bruises and burn marks on child’s body. Next is Emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior that impaired a child emotional development. It occurs when parents are ignoring their child, isolating it from others, rejecting his/her value, expect from child more than she/he can provide. This kind of abuse can be difficult to pin down because there are no physical signs to look for. After the Emotional abuse is the Neglect. Neglect means that people around him/her fail to provide sufficient attention and care to their children. There are only seven things that child needs to hear; I love you, I’m proud of you, I’m sorry, I forgive you, I’m listening, this is your responsibility, you have what it takes to succeed. Last but not the least the Sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is any misuse of children for sexual pleasure. A child that experiencing this type of abuse will show different physical disorders and signs that are not normal for his/her age.
A child who’s being abused may feel guilty, ashamed or confused. He/she may be afraid to tell anyone about the abuse that he/she experience especially if the abuser is his/her parents, other relative or a family friend.
