INTRODUCTION
NATIONALISM
We know our India has unity in diversity. After reading Baba Sahib Ambedkar’s book “Pakistan or Partition Of India” in which he elaborated upon the idea of nationality, nation and nationalism, I understood that nationality binds us all in a spirit of oneness and brotherhood despite all of us having different customs, traditions, holding different believes, languages, we celebrate different festivals, religions, castes. I think it is only a sense of nationalism that protects the national against all threats and dangers to its unity and integrity. Here I remember a few lines of very famous and renowned poet Ralf Emerson –
“Not gold but only men can make,
A people great and strong,
Men who fur truth and honour sake,
Stand fast and suffer long,
Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly,
They build a nation’s pillar deep,
And lift them to sky.”
An example of nationalism in India was seen from 1857 to 1947 when all Indians united and revolted against British. Finally we got the independence from the brutal rule of British in 1947 , it was the result of sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the unity and sense of brotherhood we showed. I believe that the sense of nationalism develops in every child at an age of 3 years when he go to school and sings VANDE MATRAM AND NATIONL ANTHEM in morning assembly, when he celebrates INDEPENDENCE AND REPUBLIC DAY, when he salutes the hosted flag. Here I remember a few lines of Hon’ble Mr. Pranav Mukherjee, he said, “Before all religions we have only one religion that is we are Indians and Constitution is our religious book”. But to bring this nationalism Ambedkar ji firstly uprooted a social evil of discrimination.
