The cardinal intention of this research was to study the level of speaking-anxiety in the ESL classroom among the intermediate students.
Horwitz et al. (1986) suggested that foreign language anxiety comprises three components: communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation (Onwuegbuzie, Bailey, & Daley, Factors associated with foreign language Anxiety, 1999). These three components are very crucial in foreign language anxiety, these components collectively make a powerful force which strengthens the anxiety.
The aim of the research is to answer the question “How to give remedies in order to lower the level of anxiety?”. Parts of the paper are following: Introduction, Literature Review, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion.
In the paper, authors divided article into five parts (including conclusion); they are all presented above. The article is fourteen pages long (pages 216-229 in journal), and almost all of them contain furtherclassifications. The article is easy to read, and it may appear interesting to readers since it explains the research itself and its results, but readers may feel a little bit tired while reading.
Data are collected through quasi-experimental study with 253 intermediate students of different sections in the college. Base on the quasi-experimental’s report, the finding of the study show that the participants who prepared for speaking in the classroom they feel confident and 72% learners feel fear of making mistakes while speaking.. The purpose of researchers was to find out the way help English language teachers to spot out the students’ reason of inadequate speaking in the classroom. This work will also assist intermediate students to overcome communication apprehension. This study will attract the ample attention of ELT researchers. Not only participants, but all ESL/EFL students’ would get benefited with the help of fruitful suggestions provided by the researcher. To determine this the results of pre-test were compared with the results of performance of post-test. The conclusion proved a significant improvement of performance in experimental group.?
