During a mixed time in U.S history, young people never had a voice. The Beatles were quintessential, they gave teens a voice. “Young people were struggling to find a means of self-expression.”(SOURCE 1) There were lots of events going on at that time like the Vietnam War, civil rights, and the J.F.K assassination. The young people wanted a change they thought this was a travesty and it did not represent who they are. The Beatles gave a voice to the people who did not have one. The people wanted peace not war. The Beatles also gave people a feeling that they were welcomed. “The Beatles gave me the idea that everyone is welcomed.”-Whoopi Goldberg (8 Days a Week) Whoopi was an African American teen living in the 60’s during the civil rights movement it was the height of tension. She believed the Beatles gave everyone a voice. She said that she saw the Beatles as just a group of cool guys. The Beatles were the proper representations for the young people in this time period.

The Beatles abstract style was a reason for their success and popularity in the 1960’s to today. Their unique rhythm and appearance changed the way the world sees rock music. The Beatles unique style made them inspiring and popular even today.

The Beatles music was very inspiring and uplifting to many people. Especially because John F. Kennedy was just killed. The zeitgeist was very sad and depressing because the United States was going through a travesty. “John F. Kennedy was just assassination.” Everyone could acquiesce that he was a paramount president and when the Beatles came it wasn’t fortuitous that everyone loved them to lighten their spirits. “The Vietnam War just started.” The United States was very stressed out and the Beatles gave them an outlet to have fun and forget their troubles.

The Beatles captured the United States and many others hearts around the world. Through their amazing music that almost every teen loved and the time period in which they came. They have made a mark in U.S history and pop culture. They will always be one of the greatest bands that have ever been created.
