Describe the expected pattern of children and young people’s development from birth to 19 years, to include: – physical development
Expected patterns can be broken down in to a few categories, some refer to these as SPICE,
Social
-Taking turns, cooperating with others, developing self-esteem and social skills.
Physical
-Fine Motor skills(drawing writing or mark making).
-Gross Motor skills climbing running jumping sports activities.
-Hand eye coordination and general coordination.
Intellectual
-Problem solving,
-decision making.
-using skills in various ways.
Communication
-Developing imaginative and creative skills.
-using language to explain reasoning.
Emotional and behavioural
-Learning how to express their feelings and taking into consideration other people’s feelings too.
We should look at patterns of development through a holistic view point of view, remembering that each child is unique and will develop at their own pace in different rates. No two children are the same and should be viewed as individuals.
