The poem “the landlady” was written by Margaret Atwood. This poem has a joyless and a chilling theme to it. The landlady is a story of one’s life living in a rented home with a devilishly rude landlady, Margaret Atwood has given the landlady a character who doesn’t have any empathy for other nor any feelings for anyone. Even though the tenant is living an unrestricted life in a rented room she still feels imprisoned by the landlady it comes to a point where the tenant sees the landlady in her dreams enough times to make their peaceful dreams into a nightmare.
