Multi agency teams brings a wide range of expertise from different professions to provide a child with a holistic approach to their on-going development support. A child with SLCN could have a team made up of speech therapists, social workers, teachers and health workers working with them (with consent from their parents/carer and themselves) if that was what was required. The various professionals in the team would work closely together and share information so that the child’s needs are met effectively – they would meet regularly to discuss the needs of the child, review progress and put in place targeted interventions. Multi agency working can involve any professional or volunteer who’s work puts them into contact with the child and its family.
