It should be something realistic so that readers can imagine themselves living the life of main character so that the can understand emotions of it. For instance, Charlotte Perkins Gilman the author of “The Yellow Paper” illustrates the mind and emotions of the woman who is suffering through mental breakdown, which catches reader’s attention. Also, it makes reader wonder about end resolution as reader keep reading to know more about that. As a result of that, story becomes catchier to the reader. For example, Sonny the character of James Baldwin’s “Sonny’s blue” Sonny goes to the nightclub which concern’s his brother because he thinks that the environment of club will take him in wrong direction. But when he visits the club and watches sonny play music and being praised and respected by the spectators makes narrator happy. It interests the reader’s a lot.
Although, there are many other features like plot and that contribute to a successful story, however, main characters and climatic end are the significant features among them.
