In the novel Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury in 1953, the main protagonist Guy Montag experiences certain events that cause him to question the type of life he is living. Many events lead up to the event that causes Montag to leave his current life for a life that is more fulfilling. These events are triggered by certain conversations and interactions with the people he meets along the way. These people include Faber, Mildred, Beatty, Clarisse Mcclellan and many others.
The first major influence on his decision to change his life forever was Clarisse. She watches Montag as he comes home from work; eventually she confronts him about his job. He originally states that he enjoys his work. Although, after meeting with her after work for many days; he began to realise that the work he completed was unrighteous. He also had come to the realisation that Clarisse was right about many everyday things that went on in his life. Clarisse was the one that finally opened Guy Montag’s eyes to the horrible things that were going on around him that he previously did not notice. This was the beginning of all the change in Guy Montag’s life.
