Answer: God meant by his covenant that people should listen to him and do what god is saying. People should follow the ten commandments and god would test them on the ten commandments. If they don’t listen they will loose their lives. It was significance for the Hebrew people because they wanted to be one of gods and they would get respect and they would fulfill the covenant.
The ten commandments here reveal that the Hebrew didn’t knew how to treat other people right and they didn’t respect god.
by saying,”You shall have no gods except me,” and “For I , Yahweh your god, am a jealous god and I punish the father’s fault in the sons , the grandsons, and the great grandsons of those who hates me; but I show kindness to thousand of those who love me and keep my commandments.” God wants the Hebrew people to listen to him and respect him and no one else.
