Jacobitism was a political movement originated during the Glorious Revolution in 1688, after William of Orange deposed James II from the Scottish and English throne. The aim of this movement was to regain the British crown for the Stuarts. There were several Jacobite rebellions between 1688 and 1746, but the rising of 1715, after the succession of the House of Hanover to the throne, and the one in 1745, were the ones that got closer to regain the throne.
