When children are born, they have innate drive to play. This means that children do not learn how to play because they know how to play from birth.
The need of play is in the DNA. Children need and like to play in spite of not feeling well. Children all over the world play whether they belong to poor, rich or any cultural background. “Research has shown that even when children are living in harsh conditions, or are unwell, they still possess a natural drive to play.” Meggitt et.al(2014,P.248)
Children who belong to different cultures have different types of play.
Play is elementary for children in order to develop healthily in all areas of their learning and development which are communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design. “Play is a physiological, psycological and social necessity, and is fundamental to the healthy development and wellbeing of individual and communities.” Meggitt et.al (2014, P.248)
Children choose what and how they want to play naturally and freely according to their likes and dislikes.
