The constitution was written in May of 1787 in Philadelphia. James Madison had one big worry about writing a new constitution. His worry was that he wouldn’t be able to write a constitution that was strong enough to hold the state and its people without letting one person, group, or level of government become to powerful.
The way the framers guarded against tyranny was through federalism. They said the government’s will each control each other and at the same time they will control themselves (Document A). When the framers separated the government’s into two different governments it created a double security for the people (Document A). Double security helped guard against tyranny because it kept the power separated between the central and state governments but also keeping the power even so that one doesn’t become too powerful (Document B).
