I was quite shocked to learn that one of my favorite soft drinks was battling in the court systems in 1911. My own lack of knowledge got in the way as I thought Coke was only forty years old. This was a pretty interesting reading, because I thought the nasty ideas about caffeine were only recent issues, not something that was of concern almost a hundred years ago. I thought Harry Levi Hollingworth proposed a well thought out plan when he stated that he did not want to see his research anywhere on a Coca-Cola advertisement. Although, Hollingworth was allowed to publish the results of his studies no matter what the outcome was. The results of Hollingworth?s studies seemed fair, but it made me wonder whether or not caffeine was really bad as Harvey Wiley made it out to be. I wonder today if Coca-Cola did not have so much money to back them up in a court case if they would be found guilty for caffeine being an
