The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe By C.S. Lewis
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are four young evacuees from London, England during World War II. They have been evacuated to an old estate in the country. The estate is the home of a rather, dear, old gentleman named Professor Kirk. Although the chi;ldren are saddened by leaving their parents in London, they are all excited about their change in environment. All except Edmund who would have rather stayed in London. On their arrival at Professor Kirks estate they are met by a very disagreeable housekeeper named Mrs. Macready. Mrs. Macready is very put out by the children and does not want them to interfere with her social duties and her standing with her society ladies. Mrs. Macready tells them which rooms are off limits and they are not to be seen or heard when she has guests in the house. The next day the weather is terrible and the children are forced to play in doors. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy play a game of hide and seek. Lucy hides in the wardrobe in the s!
