The Crucible
In the Crucible written by the famous play write Arthur Miller lying was an enormous obstacle many characters dealt with throughout the story. The one character that stood at most to me was Abigail Williams. There were three incidents that I noticed Abigail?s unreliability being shown through her actions and words.
One of the ways Abigail?s unreliability was shown was when she denied having had an affair with John Proctor. Abigail becomes very upset when she finds out the village is talking about her and she calls Elizabeth Proctor a liar for accusing her of having an affair. ?My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name is soiled! Goody Proctor is a gossiping liar!? (Miller, 1). She builds a large amount of hate and jealousy for Elizabeth Proctor and is determined to get revenge on her.
Out of all hate and jealousy Abigail manipulates her friend Marry Warren to help her frame Elizabeth Proctor and make her look like she has a voodoo doll. They accuse her of carrying a doll and stabbing it in the court. Danforth-?While you worked for Mr. Proctor,
