Society predominantly views the wealthy as worthy of respect and condemns the poor to abject circumstances. In his novel Oliver Twist, Dickens portrays society as being extremely prejudiced against the trapped and powerless and favoring the rich. He attacks society?s hypocrisy between honesty and the rich and powerful. This means that the wealthy are viewed as being honest only because of their wealth while many poverty-stricken people are looked on with hatred and disgust because of their misfortunes. Another topic I should address is the stereotypical attitude held by many, believing that all destitute people are dishonest. There are some who are dishonest in our large population. However, this should not bring anyone to the conclusion that all of them are this way. This being because you can?t always know who is honest , really, unless you meet each individual person, and sometimes they?re only dishonest because it is the only way
