Geoffroy Tory (1480-1533) was a true renaissance man; he was a professor, scholar, translator, poet, author, publisher, printer, bookseller, calligrapher, designer, illustrator, and engraver. Tory began his studies at the universities in Rome and Bologna. When he returned to France in 1505, Tory became a lecturer of philosophy at the University of Paris. He also worked as a reader at Henri Estienne?s printing office and as a scribe and illuminator during this time.
