Donald Marshal was born on the 13th of September 1953 Membertou in Cape Breton, Nova
Scotia he was the eldest of all thirteen children of Donald Sr. and Caroline Marshall. His father was
grand chief of the Mi’kmaq nation.
Donald Marshall was a little rebellious as a teenager. He got into trouble when he was sent to a
white school. At the age of age of fifteen he was expelled from school for hitting a teacher joined a
“membertou” shipyard gang, a group of teenagers who participated in beg in the streets and stealing.
Donald became known to the police for his troublesome behaver. He he was sentenced four months’ in
prison for giving alcohol to minors.
